From Avery:
It’s no secret that I’m a bit of a podcast addict, especially writing ones. There are a slew of great podcasts out there with helpful writing craft tips, info on the business side of being an author, and interviews. But among these, I found myself craving something irreverent, a little silly, but still informative.
In the true-crime genre, there’s an entire subcategory of “let’s have a drink and discuss a topic” podcasts, and I wondered what it would be like to do that with writing. At the same time this idea was simmering, I was organizing old computer files and unearthed some ancient drafts. I found myself laughing at some of the early mistakes and teenage cringe of my old writing. Then I wondered what it might be like to try revising some of that work now that I’ve been studying craft for years, and with the two ideas combined, a podcast was born.
When I shared the concept idea with D.C., they were on-board. I knew D.C.’s keen eye for revision would be invaluable, and that we get along well to produce a podcast together that’s casual and fun and silly and perhaps a little sweary.
We hope you’ll join us! Maybe you’ll learn a thing or two, but you’ll certainly share some laughs along the way.
